Introduction
Ever wished you could put a new "paint job" on your old console or perhaps give it that sharp look? Now there is a solution. DecalGirl! A few weeks ago we have reviewed a PSP skin by Decal Girl. As the review progressed we quickly found out that we are dealing with a High Quality. Today we are going to be reviewing a series of skins to show you the ease of Decal Girl skin application and removal. On our test subject list we have brand new PS3 with sixaxis and old school PS2. We will be putting a new face on PS2 and giving our PS3 that personalized look.
About the Product
What we have here are 3 Skins. Two of the skins are for PS3 (Soccer and Bullets) and one skin for PS2 (Sexy Girl). We also have an accessory skin for PS3 (Bullets - controllers). All these skins are made of a adhesive-backed vinyl , which leaves no residue when removing it. In our review we will show you that this is 100% true!

Our testing guenney pigs |
So lets take a look at what we are going to mod today. We have brand spanking new PS3 with two sixaxis controllers and not so new PS2. As you can probably see from the pictures the PS2 is not in a great shape, so we are going to try to give it a new look.

PS2 |

PS2 close up shot |
This is a regular PS2 with a lan adapter on the back. Nothing special. You can pick these up for about ... 60$? HAHAH like i said... Old School.

PS2 Cutouts |
What we are going to do is apply this Sexy Girl skin to this PS2. First things first, remove the PS2 cutouts from the vinyl. I found a hard way that it is best to do it prior to the pealing off the skin.

 |
Pealing off |
|
Precut letters |
Once the PS2 cutouts are out, it was a breeze pealing off the skin. Just have to be careful on not to pull on this too hard. The material is strong enough but its not made out of metal > <

Application |
|
Top installation complete |
The application was very easy. Place, align and smooth out the bubbles. I did got some bubbles while installing the top part of this skin, but they were very easy to get out.

Bottom installation |
|
Perfect fit |
After the top part of the application was complete, i moved on to the bottom and side of the installation of the skin. 1, 2, 3 and everything was done and locked in place.

Read to go |
So lets see here, the old PS2 get a brand new fresh look that will not fade for years to come. (Promised by DecalGirl).
Ok so now we are going to take a look at the PS3 skins. I was very excited to see how well everything would fall in to its place.

Vinyl |
Just before i get to the PS3, i want to touch up on the quality of the vinyl. I don't think i can describe this myself so i went to the DecalGirl's website and this is what they say:
"You've got to understand that with vinyl films, there are basic two types of material. The vinyl itself can be made using one of two methods: "cast" or "calendared."
Calendared vinyl is fairly inexpensive and is meant mostly for short-term applications on signs. It has a moderately glossy finish, but can have some problems with fading and color inconsistencies and is prone to shrinking over time, especially when exposed to heat (like your game console puts off). It's also less pliable and doesn't conform as well to compound curves.
Cast vinyl costs roughly 2.5 times as much as calendared vinyl, but is notably higher quality. Cast vinyls have a much higher gloss point (frequently as shiny as automotive paint), don't discolor and won't shrink over time. They conform easily to just about any curve and last 7-9 years."
You can find a whole page of how's and what's right here. DecalGirl.

PS3/Soccer |
Ok now that we looked at the PS2 and the vinyl, lets take a look at the PS3. The Soccer skin is pretty much the same size as the PS3. This skin includes a full top of the PS3 coverage.

|
 |
Top installation |
|
Rough draft |
Since there are no cutouts on the top part of the PS3, pealing of the vinyl was easy. As i mentioned earlier in our review, you don't want to stretch the decal while pealing it.

Fixing the bubbles |
Just as every other installation of the DecalGirl skins, this was a breeze. Just a good alignment and the top part of the installation was ready to go.

Memory card door |
The memory card door was easy to install. The top and the memory card skin aligned perfectly. Now the skin is starting to take shape.

Read to rock and roll |
The last part of the skin was to install the front panel skin. DecalGirl captured the front panel of PS3 perfectly! Few smoother strokes and we had ourselves a swell looking PS3.
 |
WOAH |
Not too bad, not too bad at all. I like soccer allot, and coming from an european background this makes a great mod of the PS3.

|
 |
Pealing off |
|
No residue |
Ok lets take the skin off. I have started the pealing off in the same order as i was applying the decal. As i was pealing the skin off, the vinyl did not leave any residues what so ever as promised.

Comes right off |
The key to pealing these large skins are, patience. I do strongly believe that by removing the skins slowly you can achieve a smother removal.

Identical to Soccer |
So here we are back to where we started. This time we are going to install the Bullets skin. I am going to go a head and skip a head to the actual PS3 being complete.

Very cool eh? Yeah i though it was too. But we are not finished. Lets take a look at the accessories for the PS3 sixaxis skin.

|
Right on the money |
We have gotten two of these skins for our review. On the top of the skin i found a name and the specifications of the skin. This particular skin is for a PS3 sixaxis controller.

A+ |
|
Almost done |
The actual installation of the skin was as easy as this whole review. I mean look at it, its perfect:)
 |
|
 |
Bingo! |
|
PSP Bullets |
The cut outs of this skin fit the PS3 controller just fine without any problems. What i love about these skins is that there is no instructions needed for the installation.
 |
Complete |
I have included a PSP with Bullets to the picture above. The whole package really leaves allot of great impressions.
