Features and Specifications

Informational pictures

There are very few Thermaltake logos and that's a good thing. No need to show off your brand all over the unit or its packaging. As i mentioned earlier, on the back of the case are some helpful informational picture on some of the features of the Massive 23ST. We will take a closer look at some of them later in our review.

Massive 23ST

Stylish handle

Massive 23ST name comes from this unit being very big and with 23 cm of Blue LED Fan which is pretty much the main part of this notebook cooler. On the top of the box Thermaltake included a very light but yet stylish handle. Little features like these definitely play a big role when it comes to point of sale.

Out of the box

Massive 23ST

The actual unit comes in a plastic wrapped bag with two plastic foam holders for stability within the shipping box. The Massive 23ST comes with and instructional manual and a usb/power cable. The 23 cm Blue Fan is powered by usb, so keep in mind that for proper cooling you are going to need to be able to plug Massive 23ST in to one of your usb ports.

Stylish logo

15 Degrees incline

On the bottom right of Massive 23ST there is stylish logo of Thermaltake. The actual unit is raised about 15 degrees for the comfort of your wrists. There is an arched base of Massive 23ST which helps the hot air to escape.

Bottom of the unit

230 mm blue fan

Massive 23ST is powered with 23 cm Blue fan. This is a Thermaltake fan which helps with the cooling of the notebook. I wonder is they have it in any other color but blue?

Power port

USB power cable

The power connector is located in the back of the unit. It connects to the usb port on your notebook by 14 inch usb cable. The cable is long enough to reach anywhere on your notebook ad that is important as you don't want to run short.

On and Off switch

Powered

The power cable comes with on/off switch which is useful. When the Massive 23ST is powered it glows with blue light for your pleasure. As you can see from the picture above, Massive 23ST is a perfect size for our 17 inch laptop.

Ready to rock

The whole unpacking and set up took less than a minute and just after few adjustments, we were ready for our testing.

Testing

Before Massive 23ST

After Massive 23ST

For our testing we are going to be using Asus F8 series laptop and our trusty Micro Temp gun. We have taken temperature reading of the laptop in idle state without any additional cooling. The temperature we got was 72.4 F. That is pretty hot. If paced on the lap i would of definitely get burned. Our next test was in twenty minutes after the laptop was pulled off Massive 23ST. The temperature dropped to 59 F which is much cooler than the laptop being without any additional cooling.

Conclusion

I am very impressed with the Massive 23ST and the cooling it has provided to our laptop. Massive 23ST is rather stylish unit and very easy to set up and use. I loved the fact that it comes with a small power switch build in the power cord. The light weight of the Massive 23ST makes it easy to carry or move around the office table. Supporting a wide range of laptops from 10 to 17 inches wide screens, makes Massive 23ST very useful for many of us. I would like to award Massive 23ST a 9/10!

Some pros we found:

Lightweight.

Easy to set up and use.

Wide range of supported laptops.

Some cons we found:

None that we could find.
