There has always been a battle with heat and performance with CPUs. The higher performing the higher the heat and in this case heat can lead to premature failure of the CPU. Traditionally cooling the CPU is managed by a fan and heatsink combination. There are many different variations of this set up but they are all fairly similar. In the late '90s in the case modder circles, there was talk of building custom water-cooling systems, using a radiator, not dissimilar to the radiator that is in your car, waterblock, reservoir, pump and tubing. The theory was that some type of coolant could dissipate heat faster than air and the theory is correct. The disadvantage to this set up is that it needed constant maintenance. The user would need to periodically fill up the cooling system. Fast forward a few years and ASETEK introduced a self-contained closed loop liquid cooling system. No user maintenance required. This comes at a price however; the cooling system is less customizable than before. The pump and the waterblock are contained in one unit that connects through hoses to the radiator. This appears to be a successful venture as many manufactures have sold this type of setup.

Today we will be looking at the Water 2.0 Extreme from ThermalTake. ThermalTake has taken the Extreme version to the next level with a 240 mm radiator and two 120 mm high flow/low noise fans. There are two other versions of the Water 2.0 cooling system; Water 2.0 Pro & Water 2.0 Performer, which we reviewed earlier this year. You can read the review here.

When you think about portable -insert device here-, it seems to always lose some of its quality of its non-portable version. One way to think of this is using your web browser on your desktop and phone, the latter takes out some of features available on the desktop version. With that being said, we take a look at the Genius DX-ECO mouse - is it able to take a regular wired mouse and make it suitable for on the go?

The enclosure that an enthusaiast chooses is based on many factors. Long gone are the days of the plain old beige computer case. Modders have spoken and manufactures have listened. Computer cases today offer so many different choices and features and this has been the norm for a while now. Most cases include front USB and audio. While others include carrying handles, windows, lighing, etc. Modern computer cases offer both form and function as well as a quick modded look. One of the most important factors, as far as I am concerned is function, such as cable management, cooling, as well as looks.

Today we have on the bench the CoolerMaster Storm Stryker. This case features a comfortable carrying handle, side panel window, as well as it is watercooling ready and in my opinion the appearance makes me think on an Imperial Stormtrooper from Star Wars. Let's take a look shall we?

Over the last couple of years I have found the need for removable hard drives and USB hard drives just won't cut it. USB hard drives typically transfer data at a fraction of the speeds that SATA 3 or SATA 6. Not only have I found my self in the need for a hot swap hard drive or two, but OK well, I am a little vain and I want it to look good as well. With so many of todays cases taking on a futuristic look the plain jane drive caddy just isn't going to cut it for me. Not only do I want it to look good I also want blistering performance. It's nice to have cake and eat it too, no? Enter Icy Dock, Icy Dock has been around for more than a decade and specialized in the design, manufacture and distribution of stroage enclosure peripherals. Icy Dock makes products for all levels of computing, from home PC docks all the way up to enterprise SAS backplanes.

Today we will be taking a look at three of Icy Docks products; The MB971SP-B DuoSwap 2.5"/3.5" SATA hot swap drive caddy, the MB974SP-B 4 in 3 SATA internal RAID backplane, and the MB882SP-1S-2B 2.5" to 3.5" SSD & SATA hard drive converter.

1st up we will be looking at the DuoSwap.
